One of the first things we need to know is how long have been having neck pain? "It started this morning when I woke up." If it started this morning, you more than likely slept wrong or with too many pillows. "It started a couple of days ago." Does your neck pain change from morning to evening? Do you feel tense or stressed out? If your neck pain gets worse during the day it more than likely related to your stress levels or your activities while you are working. It is common for people under a lot of stress to recover overnight and feel better in the morning and then have things tighten up while they are at work. Emotional stress is a common factor in short term neck pain. If you have a job that involves sitting at a work station, it is likely that you do not have an ergonomic set up.
